Four Things You Should Never Do

Pastor Dennis Heppner
My notes

1 Cor 10:1-13

Verse 6-11
We must learn from the example of the Israelites.

1. Never put God as a second place.
Do not be idolaters.
Idolater - worshipping idols, covetous. Desire to have more and more. Go after things.

Col 3:5
Exo 32
It's never wrong to have things, be rich. It is only wrong when we worship the riches.

Ps 106:14-15

2. Never Commit Sexual Immorality.
Numbers 25:1

3. Never test God
Numbers 14:17-18
How many times would God forgive for the same sin?
1 John 1:9 everytime you confess
However, think about Human nature... If you insist on doing the same thing on and on, you will be comfortable with t until you stop going to God asking for forgiveness.

4. Never grumble.
Numbers 21:4-5

When someone who knows God complains about life they are saying that God does not take care of them as they should. This is what God does not want.

Murmuring is based on an ingratitude about God. It is unthankfulness. It is based on unbelief.

Pay atention to these things. Don't complain. God is your best friend.

These serve as examples written down as warnings for us.

If these exists in your life. It will cause your fall. Be careful.

God is faithful. He always provides a way out in every attack of temptation.

Let Jesus be number one in your life.
Live a morally pure live even in an immoral world.
Don't push the limits with God, let Him be the love of your life. It is not good to keep on stretching it.
Be thankful with how you are and what you have.

Vision from Heaven

Bro. Hong Yang
My notes

Psalm 100

Isaiah 6:1-9
I see the Lord seated on the throne.

It is not come and see but go and tell in the gospel of Jesus.

6 wings of seraphims.
2 wings cover the faces - extreme reverence. worshipping God for His holiness, thaking for his goodness, and praising for His greatness. Without fear of God there is foolishness of man. When fear of God is absent, foolishness is present.
Phil 2:12
2 wings cover their feet - humility, gospel of peace. Jesus washe the feet in extreme love and humility, servanthood. Feet represents action. Talk is cheap. "Come follow me and I will make you..." your faith need to grow some feet. Faith without works is dead.
John 13:17
Now that you know these things you will be blessed if you do them.
John 2 turning water into wine.
Jeremiah 23:29
He word of God is a consuming fire.
2 flying wings - urgency. Non stop action. Jesus flying with us though we cqnnit see with our bare eyes. No more covering, time to fly!
We need total honesty, brutal honesty!
Hunger to put your feet to walk. Urgency! Nobody can stop you.

He looked up and saw the Lord. When you look at the Lord you get shakened.

Acts 4:31
After praying, the place shakened.

When you look up you will be shakened and filled. He will let you k ow your sinfulness.

When we look down on ourselves after look at God we realize our uncleanness.

God does not only bless for obedience but curse for willing disobedience.

Romans 1:16

EGO - edging God out. Get rid of it befoe it gets rid of you.

There is no conviction without confession.
No atitude no altitude.

Look out! See the lost, scattered, and broken.

Urgency - here I am, send me! Use me! Let Your plan be fulfilled in my humble life.

1 King 19
Get out of your home.

God is not looking for ability but heart of availability.

1 John 4:4

Obedience is better than sacrifice. We must obey God before men.

The Misunderstood Truth

Pastor Dennis Heppner
My notes

Ephesians 6:10-18
The Armor of God

When you don't know the facts you more often come up with the wrong conclusion. We can often assume the wrong things.

There are evil around the world and they affect evem Christians.

In the middle of these human struggles there is a spiritual issue.

Verse 11 put on the armor of God to resistthe devil and its evil schemes

Devil is diabolos meaning through and through.

Devil - one who falsely accuses another or slanders

Satan meaning adversary. He strategizes on how to oppose your progress as a Christian. Seeing all the bad in you.

2 Cor 2:11
Schemes - methodos meaning a road.
The devil loves to make a playground out of people's minds.

It is tue that God loves us and that He is for us but life would not always go our way. We are in a spiritual wrestling.

Our struggle or wrestling - every Christian is affected by the struggle. Even our own inconsistencies may be a strategy of the devil to make you become ineffective.

We are never wrestling against humans.

He devil does not want you to become what God wants you to be in your life.

It's not God that brings trouble in your life. This is a day of grace. God will never be your enemy. God is for you. He will never leave you nor forsake you.

We wrestle against

1. World rulers
- cosmic supervisors
- supervising opposition eveywhere and at all times
- exercise a limited general authority

As long as you live in Christ you are not God's enemy and your life is in His hands.

3. Spiritual wickedness

Art of war sun tzu
All warefare is based upon deception
Offer the enemy bait, confuse and mislead
A confused army leads to victoy to another's

Things to consider that brings victory into our life:

1. Be aware that there are spiritual forces resisting the good in your life.

It's the little things that are more dangerous in life than the big things

2. Takw a stand against the devil's shemes and do what is right.

Don't talk to the devil, talk to Jesus.

When you do what is right in spite of what's going wrong you are takin a stand.

3. Pray in the spirit in all occasions. Let the Holy Spirit pray in you.

4. Be strong in the Lord and be strong in His mighty power.

5. Put on the whole armor of God.

6. Stay alert.

The differece between sports and being a Christian is that Christ has told us that we are gonna win.

Jesus has already won and when you choose he right you enforce His victory in your life.

Growing in God

Workers' Service
Pastor Dennis Heppner
My notes

2 Peter 3:18

The norm if the Christian life is to grow in the grace and the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

In human sense growth is how we put in. In God's sense it is how we open ourselves to God.

Every Christian is designed by God to grow in Christ.

God has a plan for eveyone of us. We need to grow in God. It is an ever increasing changing growing becoming of how God wants us to be. It does not happen in an instant.

If you let do somehing out of your life He will be doing something beautiful in it.

Ephesians 2:10

Growth - I get better and more valuable in the kingdom all the time.

Areas in which we need to grow
1. Character (in spiriual terms)
Development of personality = Identity, Integrity, morality

Who am I?

Romans 12:3
Look at ourselves realistically. We have strengths and weaknesses that need to be dealt with eventhough we are already a new being in Christ.

We need to know who we are so that we could be real with ourselves.

2. Capability
- development of gift and talent

You will never make a serious impact in God based on your talent alone. But your spiritual gifts would help you do what you have not done before. It is supernatural.

What can I do?

It is no longer what can I do but what can God and I do together.

Our capacity in God is only limited by our faith and what we have been called by Him to do.

Give up to get up.

We will grow in our capabilitites by humility and willingness.

3. Understanding
Development of our intellectual capacity.

What do I know?
- what is important to God?
- how does God work?
- what gets God's attention?

4. Relationships
- capacity to integrate with other human beings

How do I relate?

Luke 2:52

Who you are will determine:
- What you can do
- What you can know
- To whom you relate

Getting Along with the World Around Me

Pastor Dennis Heppner
(my notes)

Ephesians 6:5-9

What are my responsibilities as a Christian in the market place?

SLAVES

Rome at that time
3 slaves for every free man
Or about 20,000 slaves
60,000,000 in the whole empire

Aristotle said that there could be no friendship between a slave and a master for they have nothig in common. The slave is no better than a beast except that it can talk.

In this situation, the gospel of love enters the society.

1 Cor 12:13
Gal 3:26-28

Currently, we are usually employers and employees.

1. Don't rebel in your workplace.
2. Do good work.

The amount of pay has no connection to the quality of your work. Because quality goes with your attitude.

The secret of good workmanship is to do it for the Lord.

3. Do expect God's blessing on your work.
Verse 8 know that the Lord will reward.

MASTERS
1. Do treat people properly.
2. Do not be abusive.
3. Do not be unreasonable in your demands.

A Christian must be the best employee in the workplace. His testimony involves working for the Lord.

PAUL MADE IT CLEAR:
Don't live like they live.
Ephesians 4:17

Repentance - Come Back!

Pastor Jonathan Heppner
(my notes)

Ezekiel 18:1-2

People think that what was wrong in their lives because of what their parents have done. Parwnts have sinned and God is punishing so they are suffering.

God says stop saying this.

Lamentayions 5:7

This was a popular way of believing that it is the mess of life is ue to the parents.

How much stuff do we cary not because we chose but because it is all we know?

Are we doomed to become just like what we experience or what we know?

Do we spend our lives runnin from what we used to be?

Ezekiel 18:3-4

Stop blaming your misery on others. Stop blaming who you are on others.

Pre-conventional wisdom
Conventional wisdom
Post-conventional wisdom

Matthew 5:21-22, 38-39, 43-45

Jesus is calling people to think in a new way.

Repentance - Metanoia

You need to look at these things in a very different way because the kingdom of God is near to you now.

Eph 1:17-19
Spirit of wisdom and revelation so your eyes of understanding would be enlightened.

Nobody can debate somebody to salvation. There must be a revelation and the decision will be made.

For every problem in relationships you need a revelation of Jesus to know how He sees it.

Iniquity - Avon
The results of sin in our ignorance

Exodus 20:5-6
Ezekiel 18:30

Teschuva - come back
972 times

Come back so the results of your sin will not be your ruin.

Each man stands alone. You do not have to carry the sins of those around you or before you.

Ezekiel 11:19

When you sin you become hard.

Ezekiel 36:26
Ps 137:1
Ezekiel 37:11-12

All Things New COG Makati

Pastor Jonathan Heppner

(my notes)

Church is people gathered together believing in Jesus in celebration of His giidness in our lives.

2Kings 2:19-22
This happened in Jericho, the first city Israelites conquered.

Joshua 6:26
Curse in rebuilding the city of Jericho.

530 years later
1 Kings 16:34
Ahab rebuilds Jericho

Deuteronomy 28
Verse 1 blessings
Verse 2 curses

Actions of parents have the power to bless the children.

It is not just about being punished. When you obey God can bless you but when you disobey, God cannot keep you in the blessing. He cannot protect you from the darkness because you have partnered with it. But if you disobey and return to God you will be restored.

1. Ring me a new bowl.
New - chadash in Hebrew
- renew

Ps 51:10
Ps 104:30
Isa 61:4
Lamentations 5:21

- make new or rebuild

Ps 33:3
Ps 40:3

2. Put salt in it.
Salt was extremely valuable.

Permanence
Loyalty
Durability
Fidelity
Usefulness
Value
Purification

Yeast makes the read rise. Salt kills the yeast.

Leviticus 2:13
Salt represents seal.
The covenant is that no matter how you choose to commit stupid things, you will be restored when You return to God.

Numbers 18:19

They were just like us, we need ideas or truths to be:
Tactible:intangible
Kinesthetic: hands on, physical

This is why there is altar call, raising of hands in praise. Expression is important.

2 Chronicles 30:9
Nehemiah 1:8
Jeremiah 15:19

"if you return, you will be restored"

Hosea 6:1-3
Joel 2:12, 25

When you return, He will restore and repay.

For Elisha, history is not an inscriber but a describer. Your history describes your past but not your future.

How many of us are chained to the mistakes or pain of our past because it has become a blend of describig and deciding?

Ok, there's a curse. Let's break it, let's go.

Accdg to Elisha curses are made to be broken, a new word can always be spoken.

Isaiah 61:1-7
Isaiah 51:1,5,8
Isaiah 55:10-13

When we give meaning to the wrong hings it is called superstition.

Repent
Metanoia
Meta-think
Noia-exercise the mind/to think/to comprehend
